This was one of the most challenging and rewarding watercolors I've ever painted. On my trip to France in July to teach a workshop, we stayed at the castle a few extra days after the class and rented a car and went all over the area. We drove back to Paris and on the way I planned for us to stop by Chartres and see the cathedral. It was a second time for me, and the first time was in 1968. I knew that if I was ever anywhere near it again that I had to see it again. The moment I saw this huge statue, I knew I had to paint it no matter how difficult it looked! So, here it is, and I hope you enjoy seeing it.
