I enjoyed painting Winter Canopy in Rocky Mountain National Park from a turnout where I could stay right by my car, in case I needed to get into it. That would not have been because of a bear appearing or anything, but because I might get too cold. That didn't happen, though, and the warmth of the sun and the non-windy day kept me warm enough to finish the painting. I loved the way the snow looked like a canopy on the branches of the aspens - it hadn't blown off yet!
