On a visit last spring to San Antonio with the Outdoor Painters Society, I realized that I hadn't painted the Rose Window, one of my favorite sights in the world, in a long time! I did a small plein air watercolor while I was there, having to seek refuge from the hot sun in a flower bed shielded by a bush, and I recently decided it was time to do an oil of it. I had nothing but pure delight in painting it! I used a very limited palette of complimentary colors - only one blue (cobalt) and a selection of oranges. That added to the fun of mixing so many of the mission colors from just those two!
