A Story of Time

This is quite different for me to paint! I was out of my comfort zone, but it was a very good thing to do. My mother's photo is the spotlight, and this is her story. The photo was from the 1920's and the Beethoven piano music was part of a huge collection that she owned while she owned and operated a piano and dance studio in Hot Springs, Arkansas, in the 1930's. I now have all of that music. The copyright notice on this piece of music is 1911. The pearls and the various watches were owned by her, her brother, father, uncle, etc. and are priceless things to me. It took quite a while to collect all the things of hers that I wanted to paint in the still life, and as I gathered them up I added them to a big pile in my studio. I wanted to do a "looking down" still life, and that made the painting even more difficult.

I hope the "old" feeling is in the painting, because everything is old!
