Winter Spotlight

Sometimes an artist almost always changes a photograph he or she is using as a reference, and I am one of those artists! Two major changes I made were to reduce the size of the large rock on the right (it was huge, and would have taken over everything else) and to eliminate most of the "stuff" in the foreground of the river, like a large log, many rocks, etc. I also cleaned up the background a lot. Basically, I made it my own, the way I wanted it. I always figure if the viewer wanted a scene to look exactly like the photograph, why not just buy a photograph? I would love your thoughts on this. So, there came a time in this painting where I had to say that I'd made enough changes, tweaked the snow enough, and there was nothing left to do but put the brush down.

The price includes a beautiful frame, but the painting may be sold as a standard size 16x20 linen panel unframed.
