I've had this in my head for some time, thinking about it, and finally painted it and finished it! The elk are from four different places and three different years, and I've wanted to put them all together in one large painting and finally got the idea to put them in a fall scene with an early snow with the lovely backdrop of the view of Moraine Park in Rocky Mountain National Park. The small elk in the river are actually from photos I took while playing golf (at least, you might call it that) on the Estes Park Golf Course. I'll have to say that it turned out almost exactly like I'd imagined it, that is, after numerous scrapings, rubbing outs, etc., to get it right.
