Many people, including myself, could watch these elk for hours on end. In the fall, the males have their "harems" and chase the females around relentlessly. They get into duels with their antlers with other males and basically put on a show for two months. In this painting, I was trying to portray the female's "not you again" attitude as the male chased her around the forest. It's a sight to see (and so are the fall aspens, which I love to paint).
