Wildflower Retreat

This painting, as all paintings, has a story - not about the aspens, but about trying to overwork a painting! I don't generally overwork a painting that I'm doing outdoors, and I guess it's because I don't have time to do that, as the light is constantly changing. This time was different, however, and I went back and added wildflowers in the distance (more is better?) and later had to employ some scrubbing methods to take most of them back out because I overdid. The main focus is the light, coming from the middle upper left, on the aspens, which I was happy with. Why I wanted to go back in and overdo the flowers I'll never know! It all turned out, though! It's easy to kill a watercolor, but I saved this one from its death!
