Can you find the log?

"Wintry Creek" 16 x 20 Oil on Linen

Of course you can't, because it's not there! Sometimes in an artist's life, two things happen: The artist will come upon a scene and something jumps out at you and you say, "I HAVE to paint this!" Then the second thing might happen: After you get well into the painting, the thing that jumped out at you in the first place isn't working in the painting. And that's why the log isn't there...anymore. It was right behind the large tree, draping beautifully across the water. The problem was that it "stole the show" and instead of a cool decoration for the snow scene, it completely dominated it. So, it was a difficult decision to take it out, but it improved the snow scene drastically.

I'm very proud that this painting will be displayed in the upcoming Women Artists of the West 52nd National Exhibit, "EAST MEETS WEST," at McBride Gallery in Annapolis, MD, from November 6, 2022, through January 7, 2023.

"Hasty Transition to Winter" 11 x 15 Watercolor

Boldbrush Painting Contest

I'm super excited about this watercolor being included in the 15% Favorites of all the many entries in the September Boldbrush Contest! This is a watercolor that started as a demonstration for an art club, and I had planned to add some more things to it and ran out of time. Then I let it "sit" for months, trying to decide if it really needed any more, or should I leave it alone?

I finally left it alone.

Three Workshops in October and November

I'm looking forward to teaching these three workshops, and as of now, there are only a couple of spots left in each:

October 18-19th - Ft. Worth, TX: Watercolor Workshop sponsored by the Society of Watercolor Artists (SWA)

November 7-8th - Ft. Worth, TX: Oil Floral Workshop sponsored by the Women of the Arts of Fort Worth
