Moraine Park in Rocky Mountain National Park was the setting for this snow scene that I painted from a photo I took, obviously in the winter. I added the Canada geese for some life in the scene. I love painting snow in both oil and watercolor, and I'm very happy with this one. I'm practicing ice. I'm finding that the best way to do it (for me) is to paint a dark wash over the water and paint the lighter value ice over it while it is still wet. I will enter this in the Oil Painters of America National Exhibit in 2012. Wish me luck!
