This is a scene in Rocky Mountain National Park, Estes Park, Colorado, at a lookout point called "Many Parks Curve." I painted a small one on location and it gave me the idea for this large one. I wanted the aspens to be "right up in your face," and they were very dark against the gray day sky, although they are white trees. The colors in them were more prominent this way, and I tried to play them up. This was really fun to paint. I framed it in a black frame, which really enhances the aspens against the light background.
