"The Fortress "

Watercolor

I love this formation at Palo Duro Canyon in Canyon, Texas. I added the road to lead into the painting, and my challenge was to darken and warm up the foreground enough so that The Fortress looked like it was off in the distance. This watercolor was selected for the 2008 National Watercolor Society Juried Membership Exhibition, the 2008 American Plains Artists Juried Exhibition, and won Third Place in the 2009 Associated Creative Artists Annual Juried Exhibition in 2009.
