Palo Duro Canyon in Canyon, TX, has become one of my favorite places to paint. Although I didn't do this large one on location, I took the photo after first arriving in the morning and caught some of the hazy morning light. I painted this from two photos I took and put together to make one panoramic scene. The challenge here was to control the values and colors so that the viewer goes back...and back...and back. It was very fun to paint.
