"Looking Toward Summer"

I painted this in late May just after the leaves began to appear on the trees. The location was past Endo Valley in Rocky Mountain National Park. I wanted to work on logs as a lead-in, and there were plenty of fallen logs here. The rust color in the background is unfortunately pines killed by the pine beetles, but it added a beautiful color back there.
