"Catching Winter's Light"

I painted this as a snow demonstration in the recent workshop I taught in Amarillo, Texas. I took the photo of the backlit trees in Rocky Mountain National Park, and I loved the shadows coming forward from the backlit trees. I've learned (the hard way) to connect all the shadows at the bottom of the painting - otherwise, they look like stripes coming out toward you!
