"Autumn Sparkle"

Plein Air Oil on Gessoed Masonite

This was my third painting of the day across the road from Lily Lake in Estes Park, Colorado. The fall aspens were so beautiful that I just couldn't stop. I saw this little group of aspens during my morning painting and the great darks behind them made them jump out at me. They looked even better in the afternoon, so I couldn't help myself. I saw purple in the little hill they were on, so I tried to add some violets and red violets to compliment the yellows and yellow greens in the foliage.
