"Across the Bridge and Down the Road"

Plein Air Oil on Gessoed Masonite

I painted this in Rocky Mountain National Park one day after a very frustrating morning of dying to paint fall aspens and being thwarted at every turn! My friend Cyd Springer and I were setting up to paint aspens and had to abort because the elk were getting too close. Then we drove forever it seems, and everywhere we found good aspens had no place to park near them! We finally drove across the little bridge in Moraine Park chasing some yellow that turned out to be cottonwoods instead, and I decided to paint this not-too-shabby scene of a mountain! It turned out to be a good day after all.
